This year Adobe has launched their biggest update to their suite of tools with the advent of Adobe Creative Suite 6. As designers at The Web Showroom we love to use Adobe products to produce our site designs, in particular Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The Web Showroom prides itself on being at the forefront of design and quickly made the steps to upgrade our tools to the new offerings in Creative Suite 6.

With any new Adobe product launch there is plenty of new functionality, tricks and work flow methods to learn. In Photoshop alone there has been 140 new features added. So to help us learn what our new design tools offer, a few of The Web Showroom designers attended the Adobe Creative 6 Roadshow.
The Roadshow was a daylong conference held at Sydney’s Convention and Exhibition Centre where we were introduced to the full range of Adobe products and their philosophy of empowering designers to reshape their creative future.
Both of these speakers were highly engaging and it was obvious they love the product as much as we love designing with it.

The morning session was spent looking at the state of the web and its impact on traditional media. It was shown that more online content is now being consumed than traditional sources and that a person spends an average of 49 hours a week on the Internet visiting websites and other online resources. This content is also now being consumed predominately via portable devices rather than the traditional desktop. So as designers we need to be aware of how we design as we are not just designing for one viewing platform but multiple screens.
It was the afternoon sessions that we designers were really looking forward to. A chance to find out what shiny, new design bells and whistles the Adobe team had added to our favourite design programs. And wow, is there a lot. I could easily write another blog post on specific features the Adobe team have added to each program but I am too keen to jump on in and start using them immediately. Photo retouching, logo design capabilities, content layout and processing speeds have been greatly improved in these applications and I know will be evidenced in future The Web Showroom designs.
Overall it was a great and empowering day and thanks to this The Web Showroom designers now have a few more tricks up our sleeve.
